Loving Strangers: A Modern Philosophical Defense

September 22, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm CDT

All are invited to join Anselm House for the 27th Annual Holmer Lecture this fall.

We have the capacity to extend our loving concern to others in surprising ways, sometimes to complete strangers. But love for strangers may at times seem to risk our own well-being or that of those close to us. Why should we act for the good of others in such situations? Join us as we explore the moral signifiance of our love for strangers, developing a theory of the role that love’s reasons play in our moral lives.

Dr. Meghan Sullivan is the Wilsey Family College Professor of Philosophy and the Director of the Notre Dame Institute of Advanced Study.
