SUMMARY:2024 Annual Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The 14th Annual Meeting of the Consortium of Christian Study Centers will be held at the North Carolina Study Center (NCSC) in Chapel Hill\, NC. NCSC completed $3.5M in renovations on its 180-year-old historic home in fall 2022\, which includes an updated kitchen\, counseling room\, and a library. The home is a 5-minute walk from the center of the UNC-Chapel Hill campus\, making it a convenient location for students to participate in programming or utilize the space for study. The 6\,500+ sq. foot NCSC home and nearby on-campus buildings will provide Annual Meeting attendees with a taste of southern hospitality and community.

DESCRIPTION:The North Carolina Study Center is excited to be hosting its second annual intellectual retreat in January of 2023! These retreats are designed to cultivate lively conversation\, (friendly) debate\, intellectual growth\, and fellowship—all in a community of Christian graduate and advanced undergraduate students at UNC-Chapel Hill. \nThe topic for this year’s discussion will be the theology of health and medicine. Since its inception\, Christianity has been closely aligned with the practice of medicine and caring for the sick. Health and illness are universal experiences that get at the heart of what it means to be human and to be whole. However\, knowing how to define health\, facilitate healing\, and navigate the complexities of contemporary medicine are difficult tasks. In this seminar\, we will explore a variety of topics related to health and healing as we think together about how to best bring the Christian tradition to bear on our practices of healthcare.
